Burnishing
The heart of the DDS
123 is the Athana cleaning
blade system. This cleaning mechanism
incorporates a tungsten carbide blade which is
arranged exactly as the read-write head is
positioned. The blade removes imbedded
contamination. It is non-magnetic and does not
affect any data written on the tape.
Retensioning
The DDS 123 Conditioner
provides two-pass retensioning of each cartridge.
Tape is automatically advanced to the EOT marker
and returned to the BOT marker. It is properly
tensioned and cleaned with a two-pass cleaning
cycle.
|
Vacuum Removal The contamination removed
from the tape by the blade is withdrawn from the
cleaning area with a powerful vacuum removal
system. Contamination is deposited in a filtering
system within the vacuum pump, located away from
the cleaning area. The filter is replaced as part
of yearly maintenance.
